Neck Lift NYC
Neck lift surgery corrects cosmetic problems related to the neck, jaw line, and lower face. A well-defined transition from the neck to the lower face makes an extraordinary impact on a person’s overall facial appearance. Unfortunately, cosmetic problems like excess neck fat, loose skin, neck bands, or a double chin are troubling for many people – even in their younger years.
Here are some of the possible indications for neck lift surgery, more clearly defined:
- Excess neck tissue
- Loose or redundant neck skin
- Neck bands
- Poorly defined jaw line, i.e. retrognathia
Who Can Benefit From a Neck Lift?
Those who exhibit conditions such as those above may be candidates for neck lift surgery. However, if sagging or heavy jowls are present, it may be necessary to perform a surgical facelift. Liposuction of the chin and neck may also be necessary to achieve a satisfactory result.
Neck lift Procedures
The term “neck lift” may encompass a variety of different surgical techniques. A basic neck lift procedure may involve short incisions behind the ear and/or under the chin. Dr. Pfeifer then lifts and tightens the platysmal muscle to improve the neck contour. In some cases, part of the platysma muscle may need to be removed. In others, a removal of excess skin is all that’s necessary.
Neck lift surgery is typically performed under general anesthesia on an outpatient basis. For some operations, local anesthesia with I.V. sedation is sufficient.
Recovery From Surgery
Recovery will take approximately 10 days, during which time the neck may feel tight and sore. A special compression garment may be necessary to reduce swelling and ensure a smooth result. Patients also may need to elevate the head while sleeping.
