Sagging Eyelids & Eyebrows Treatment in New York

As we age, the small muscles that control the eyes become slack, and eyelid skin loses elasticity. The brows begin to droop, giving your face a weary, aging appearance. Modern surgical techniques can help you turn back the clock, and restore a more youthful appearance with eyelid or brow surgery, or both. Are you tired of looking tired, and considering cosmetic surgery? Dr. Tracy Pfeifer, MD is an elite New York surgeon who has garnered a reputation for her excellent work at her two clinics, and as the attending plastic surgeon at several hospitals in the area.

Eyelid Surgery and Brow Lift Surgery: What Procedure is Right for You?

Every patient must be individually evaluated to determine the surgical procedures necessary to resolve the appearance of droopy, sagging eyelids. Some may require eyelid surgery in both the upper and lower lids to address fatty deposits and puffy bags under the eyes that persist, no matter much you care for your health or sleep. For some patients, a brow lift is very effective, while other patients may need a combination of surgical procedures to restore a more youthful appearance.

Some patients, due to genetics, have puffy bags under the eyes. Lower lid blepharoplasty addresses the fatty tissue and excessive skin below the eyes, causing the eyes to droop and giving an older, tired appearance. The procedure involves an incision in the interior of the lower eyelid, with no visible scars. The change in facial appearance is subtle, but makes a significant difference in the overall look of the face and eyes.

There are several brow lift procedures, and the right surgery for you will be determined after evaluating your individual condition.

Endoscopic Brow Lift:

An endoscopic brow lift is a less-invasive procedure, and one of the most favored types of brow lift surgeries. A surgical endoscope is used (a surgical instrument that allows a surgeon to view the internal structure of the underlying tissue), allowing for much smaller incisions, reduced scarring, and a shorter recovery period. In this procedure, four small incisions are made in the hairline of the patient, and the tissues are then raised and remodeled.

Coronal Lift:

A coronal lift involves a larger incision, hidden in the hairline, crossing ear to ear. The forehead skin is lifted and the muscle structure adjusted to resolve lines, furrows and creases in the forehead.

Pretrichial Lift:

A pretrichial forehead lift involves a longer incision, and could be the most effective surgical procedure for those who want to lift the eyebrows. It is often used for those with a high forehead, as it serves to shorten it slightly and create a more balanced facial appearance.

Mid-forehead Lift:

When the eyebrows have “fallen” as a result of gravity, and rest below their original position, it can give a face a tire, grumpy appearance. A mid-forehead lift may be needed to return the brows to their original position, by removing excess skin in the mid-forehead region.

Internal Browlift:

For some patients, the position of the brows can be modified using an internal surgery. The muscle structure that depresses the eye can be released during upper eyelid surgery, with no separate incision necessary. This surgery can improve the definition of the brows, and may be performed to prevent the downward descent of the brow.

Barbed Suture Lift:

The barbed suture lift is minimally invasive procedure in which barbed sutures are placed within the facial tissue to creating a lift effect. Both firming and lifting can be achieved with this procedure.
