Helpful App Tracks Coronavirus Spread

So many of my patients live in New York City and the surrounding areas. New York City is being called the epicenter of the nation’s outbreak, why I continue to alert patients through my blog of breaking news, including this new helpful app that tracks coronavirus spread.

As a resident of Manhattan myself, I wanted to share information about this app that tracks coronavirus spread. The app was created by Mt. Sinai Health System in New York. It helps residents understand where clusters of coronavirus are around, or near, them so they can better understand their risk

What the App Does

This app, called STOP COVID NYC, is a web-based app that anyone can download. To sign up, simply text COVID to 64722.

The app requires some work, but I consider it a small price to pay to help this coronavirus pandemic end sooner. It will also help keep you and your friends and family safe. What you have to do:

  1. You’ll need to complete an initial survey with questions about demographics, exposure and symptom history.
  2. You will receive short daily surveys about your symptoms, if any, through text messages sent to your phone.

By taking part in this app, you’ll be able to see when symptoms are starting and where.

Another Link to Track Coronavirus Spread

If you don’t live in New York City or have friends and family around the country, this link is extremely helpful at understanding the number of cases nationwide. Just type in your state and you’ll get statistics on coronavirus, or Covid19, in your area.

The important thing is to stay home whenever you can and, if you have to go out, to take the necessary precautions. Wear a mask whenever you’re outside and always wear gloves.

Stay well. I will continue to keep you updated on news as I receive it.
