Stubborn Fat Loss Treatment in New York

If you want a great body, diet and exercise are important. Healthy eating and regular exercise can tone the muscles, improve your BMI, and help you lose weight. But what do you do when you work out and watch what you eat but still have stubborn fat in certain areas of the body that will not go away?

Insulin resistance, cortisol levels, non-optimal sleep patterns, nutritional deficiencies and other physical factors can result in stubborn fat deposits that resist all slimming and trimming efforts, no matter how conscientiously you stick to your gym schedule and track and restrict your calories. You may lose pounds overall but still have stubborn fat on the:

  • Belly
  • Hips
  • Buttocks
  • Back
  • Thighs
  • Knees
  • Chin

These stubborn fat areas can leave you with unsightly bulges that affect the way your clothes fit and ruin the look of your physique. After significant weight loss, many people still have “love handles” or “pooches” covering their abs. Fat rolls under the chin may persist in spite of all efforts, marring the lines of the face and throat. After working out and losing weight, many women find that the upper body has slimmed down nicely, but stubborn fat still remains on the hips, buttocks, and thighs.

Liposuction is a cosmetic surgical procedure to remove stubborn fat from various areas of the body. This procedure can be performed on small areas, such as under the chin, and on larger areas, such as the thighs or buttocks.

There are two basic types of liposuction – tumescent and ultrasound-assisted. The tumescent technique is the appropriate type for most of our patients. With this technique, fluid containing lidocaine (a local anesthetic), saline solution (to help break up fat cells), and epinephrine (to temporarily constrict blood vessels) is injected to saturate the area of the fat deposit. Dr. Pfeifer then makes a small incision and inserts a tube to manipulate and remove the fat.

Many patients can return to their normal activities in as little as two days after liposuction. Swelling and bruising may occur, but when it subsides, patients can expect a sleeker body contour after stubborn fat has been removed.

SmartLipo laser liposuction is a technique for removing stubborn fat that combines liposuction and laser technology. This advanced technique makes precision body sculpting possible with less pain and quicker recovery.

Targeted areas are marked and injected with fluid containing local anesthetic and other ingredients. After making a small incision, Dr. Pfeifer uses a laser probe to disrupt and stimulate fat cells, then inserts a thin tube to vacuum out the fatty tissue. Down time tends to be even shorter with SmartLipo laser liposuction – as little as 1 to 2 days.
